The United Nations Association Pasadena Foothills Chapter:
The United Nations Association Pasadena Foothills Chapter is a center for innovative programs engaging Americans in issues of global concern. Our educational, humanitarian and sustainability campaigns include teaching students in urban schools, providing educational support for schools in Africa and the developing world and community support for implementation of the UN Urban Environmental Accords as an access to greening our cities. A not for profit, membership organization, United Nations Association Pasadena Foothills Chapter is dedicated to building understanding and support for the ideals and vital work of the United Nations among American people.

Model United Nations
An interactive Interdisciplinary simulation which places students in the role of official United Nations delegates. The program builds on existing curriculum to provide the development of life skills including communication, critical thinking and negotiation and conflict resolution problem solving. The United Nations Association Pasadena Foothills Chapter (UNA) is working in tandem with representatives of the Pasadena Unified school District (PUSD) to make the Model UN program available to public schools in the district for September 2009. The Model UN programs will culminate with the first PUSD /UNA conference under the leadership of Board member, Brice Harris who currently leads the award winning Model UN program at Pasadena City College and has done so at Occidental College where he chaired the Diplomacy Department for many years. He along with Rome Friesen a 25 year veteran teacher of Model UN and International Model UN Association leader, and Board Member/ Blair High School History Chair, Alf redo Mathew will commence with the first High School Demonstration of the Model UN this spring 2008.This event will be the predecessor of the first UNA/PUSD Model UN course.

Coffee Talks Speaker's Series
This monthly global speaker’s series is devoted to exploring progress and challenges impacting the UN 8 Millennium Development Goals. This forum provides community access to great international and local speakers who are actively educating, inspiring and mobilizing Americans toward a more peaceful humane and sustainable world. Held at the Armory Center for the Arts in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, the series draws audiences from throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.

Global Friends Program
Working with Global Impact Foundation, we are connecting schools in Pasadena, California with schools in the developing world. The program has been successfully launched at 3 Pasadena area schools Polytechnic, Flintridge Prep, McKinley Elementary. Goods collected by the McKinley sixth grade students were hand delivered by Board Member Mabel Obi to Nigeria Spring 2008. We will be solidifying relationships with15 Nigerian schools by June 2008. As a start, a local school administrator and a 15 year old student at Polytechnic High School contributed funds to purchase the 40' x 9ft shipping container and the Flintridge Prep students have collected goods from the AYSO soccer league to donate to ISU Primary School in Nigeria |

Environmental Sustainability Efforts
We provide community support for implementation of the UN Urban Environmental Accords as an access to greening our cities. We do this by engaging the community in educational forums on Green Living, and partnering with leaders of sustainability in business, media and government:UNA Pasadena participates with sustainable partners such as Green Technology Magazine and Opportunity Green. In fall 2008, the UNA will host a conference track at the renowned IDG Conference on sustainability in association with VerdeXchange. The UNA track focus is on the greening of cities, including best practices and innovative approaches to encouraging green lifestyles.
